So long without an update, so here's a bunch of news.

Firstly, a reminder that regos will be opening next Saturday at 8:00am. Spots are limited, so be sure you get in early. Even if all the available spaces are taken when you go to register, add yourself to the waiting list. Confirmations will open around the middle of April, with non-confirmed players removed a week later. Also, if we have a substantial waiting list (like 50+ players), we'll see if we can increase the player list to accomodate everyone.

Comps for our first event of 2005 have been finalised. We'll be having a HalfLife 2 DeathMatch comp, an Unreal Tournament 2004 Capture The Flag comp (we may change the gametype to ONS, or DM, depending on response on the day), Need For Speed Underground 2 will be the first round of the MPU Racing Cup, and we will be running the inaugural "MPU Demo Comp" - stay tuned for more details on this one.

we have recieved our new server that we won last year at the Battle of the LANs - Thanks go to AMD and CyberSlam for the prize, and (once again) thanks to the guys from Clan LT, for going hard and winning this great prize. This adds the the new servers we got last year, to give us a fair bit of serving grunt to use. so expect to see a plethora of dedicated servers running on the day. Once you are at the LAN, be sure to check out the intranet server (http://intranet/) for a list of all the servers. You can also use the intranet server to add your own servers for all to see.

We visited the new venue again the other day, and there's a few points that we need to point out to everyone. Be sure to check out the LAN Info Page to view a map of the venue, and to refresh yourself on the requirements for the day. For a list of the club's rules, Click on this link. It is highly recommended that anyone over 18 beome a member. It's only $11 for 4 years (or $5.50 for 1 year, but this expires in June), and will save you having to sign in every time you attend MPU. Those of you under 18 will need to be escorted from the front desk up the stairs to the function room we are using - this is a rule the club has in place. So it is recommended that you get your parents to bring you up, after they have signed in. Alternatively, the admins will constantly be coming down to the Church St reception during the first couple of hours to escort people waiting. We understand this is an inconvenience (something we didn't have to worry about before), but there isn't much we can do about it. And if you are over 18, please make sure you bring some ID with you. Also, there is no food or drink allowed to be brought into the venue - the same rules that we had at Parramatta. There is a bar within the funtion room, and it will be open 2 times during the day. It will be selling pies, sausage rolls, that sort of thing, and also drinks will be available. Unfortunately, there will be no free drinks on offer like we used to have - again, a limitation that the club has imposed.

When you get to the venue, make sure you use the Church St Entrance, not the John St entrance. When you come in via Church Street, you will be able to unload, take your equipment upstairs, and then move your car into the car park. Also, the club doors don't open until 9:00am - they will be locked shut before that time - and MPU will not be opening it's doors before 10:00am. So please don't get to the venue early hoping to be able to get in - it won't happen.

We are finalising the details of our new sponsorship deals. At this stage we plan to have a shop operating again at the LAN, sporting some "on the day" specials, plus we hope to have a showbag of goodies to give each player who attends. And some great prizes for the comps. Again, stay tuned for more details.

I personally am very excited about this umcoming event - it's gunna be a blast for sure!

Oh yeah - there is a new poll up - all responses are anonymous, so answer honestly :P

oh and I'd like to add that there are incentives to becoming a member at dooleys, firstly the club gives you a $50 bar tab every end of financial year so if mpu is on in jun or july and is still at dooleys then you get the whole day to spend your bar tab, and second, you can play pool if you get tired of sitting down all day, that is all.

All for $11 for 4 yrs, and thats $200 of bar tab.
