If you read more closely you'll find that you have to have a bundled phoneline with Iinet to get speeds faster than 1500. So it's really no better than anyone else's plan(s).
I hope it's a sign of things to come for other ISPs though. |

Yeah, I wasn't that impressed with the fact you need to sign up for other services - however it is good to see broadband services advancing in the country, finally. Here's hoping it keeps up!

Being an iinet customer for two years I have taken advantage of this offer with bells on.
I applied to change my account on Tuesday afternoon, my connection was a little shakey but didn't drop out and by Thursday lunchtime I was downloading at 720KBps with upload being about 80KBps. I'm willing to take up iiphone in order to get such speeds as I know ADSL2/2+ will becoming in the next few months giving theoretical speeds of 12Mbps/24Mbps download. Telstra and Optus could offer 8Mbps speeds now with their ADSL plans but they choose not to, I'm trying to understand why they wish to hold us back. Maybe they're waiting for ADSL2/2+ to be given the ok before releasing higher speed broadband plans. Someone from Telstra management was quoted as saying "The Australian market is not ready for those speeds yet". last edited by ROCK at 13:14:28 12/Feb/05 |

I just finally got connected to ADSL yesterday, 1.5Mbit connection.....Exchange was upgraded last week, put my application in the day before the upgrade. Goodbye 56k!
I'll complain about 1.5Mbit being too slow in another week :-) |

Good to see faster options to 1500/256
Was reading the Communications and Information Technology site (http://www.dcita.gov.au/) and saw a press release about the government offering ISPs money to boost broadband takeup. http://www.dcita.gov.au/tel/higher_bandwidth_incentive_scheme_hibis Interesting stuff. Which will put pressure (hoping) for faster speeds. |

Yep iiBroadband 2 with iiphone saves you money if you don't use your phone much like I do. If you use your phone a lot then it is more expensive but the trade off is having ADSL speeds you can't get anywhere else in Australia yet and also with ample download quotas.
