Yep, the rego's have filled! You can still register and go onto the waiting list, depending on the amount of people on the waiting list we might up the numbers to 150.

Keep in mind any person that is unconfirmed will be dropped off the registered list and the people on the waiting list will be moved into the registered list.

4*200Gb Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 10 IDE
2*200Gb Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 10 SATA
2*200Gb Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9 IDE
2*200Gb Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9 SATA

Full of linux distributions, patches, codecs, demos, movie trailers, and such :-)

And yes, I'm still planning to expand....I think I have 1 IDE port free in my rig. Will slowly start to replace with 400's soon I think....

On another note, expect a list of programs updated and such posted within the hour.

so you like maxtor hard drives eh?

Yeah, I do.

It's what I recommend.

A Western Digital & Seagate 200gb hard drive measures as 186Gb in Windows. A Maxtor measures as 189Gb. 3gb*10 = 30gb more space :-).

I find them more reliable than Western Digital or Seagate, but that's just from my experience. Others will prefer the other two brands for their own reasons and experience. Don't intend to start a hard drive debate here :-)

I'll open the debate on HDD's. Even though it's probably not the right thread.. Sorry to say Missingo I've had 3 WD failures in and I wont buy another one. 2x 60GB and a 20. I know they were prolly on their last legs when I bought them new... One good thing is the S.M.A.R.T. part. They did at least tell me they were dieing before they died so I had a chance to backup some data.

Seagate for me. Rah rah shish boom bah!

ive had 3 seagates die on me 40gb,80gb and anthor 80gb which was a replacement from seagate for the first 80gb that died.

Fine then...

Last year I bought 3 SATA 200gb WD Drives, at the same time. Within 3 weeks, all of them had died. That was the last straw for WD for me.

Had a few seagates die many years ago, and I've also lost a few maxtors.

I'd consider the reliability of all the brands pretty even, so I use other factors, like extra space, to determine which one to buy :-)

Yep, at work i've seen plenty of Seagates, WDs, Maxtors, Hitachi, and Samsung drives fail completely. Various models, sizes, and ages.

Just backup your data, and get a decent warranty (they're all usually 3 or 5 yrs now anyway).

Take the hot date to MPU, then let me impress her with the amount of hard disk space I have, then I'll take her from you :-)

Funny you should say that, as I did seriously consider that option for about 5minutes before I posted LOL. But then I may decide on spending half my day there and the other half out with her, and hehe I don't think she'll be impressed, probably more disturbed than anything, problem is I currently live in Melb and wanted to come up to Syd for MPU and she just had to intrude on my plans grrrrrrrrrr..... well if all goes well maybe I could convince her to bring her comp too lol pending its affect on my love life lol.

Damn...from Melbourne...long way to come to a lan, but then, it is MPU.

I'm sure MPU is one of the most romantic destinations you can find in Australia, perfect for a day out with your girl :-).....

But in the end......she's more important than a combination of hardware and software....I think......well, perhaps not.

Is this a good time to mention that I'm no longer on dialup as of mid-feb this year, and have a 1.5Mbit Unlimited connection, without shaping :-).

Think of all the Linux Distributions I have downloaded with that connection :-). Plenty of Demos and such as well.
